Biographical note: Stephen G Cecchetti, former Economic Adviser and Head of Monetary and Economic Department

Mr Stephen Cecchetti was Economic Adviser and Head of the Monetary and Economic Department from July 2008 to November 2013.

Prior to joining the BIS, Mr Cecchetti was the Barbara and Richard M Rosenberg Professor of Global Finance at Brandeis International Business School. Previously, he held various other positions, including Executive Vice President and Director of Research at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Professor of Economics at Ohio State University, and editor of the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking.

Mr Cecchetti graduated from MIT in 1977 and received a PhD in economics from the University of California at Berkeley in 1982.
