BIS Board appoints Chair of the Consultative Council for the Americas

The Board of Directors of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has appointed Roberto de Oliveira Campos Neto as Chair of the BIS Consultative Council for the Americas (CCA). Mr Campos Neto is Governor of the Central Bank of Brazil.
Mr Campos Neto's appointment is for a term of two years as from 9 January 2023. He succeeds John Williams, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The BIS Board expressed its gratitude to Mr Williams for his leadership in furthering important cooperative initiatives during his tenure in areas such as digital payments and risk management.
The CCA was established in May 2008 as an advisory committee to the BIS Board of Directors. It comprises the Governors of the eight BIS member central banks in the Americas: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and the United States.
The BIS Representative Office for the Americas, located in Mexico City, is having its 20th anniversary in November 2022 and provides the secretariat for the CCA.
