Independent Review of BIS Research

BIS management commissioned an independent review of research by an external panel comprising Franklin Allen (Professor of Finance and Economics and Executive Director of the Brevan Howard Centre at Imperial College, London), Sir Charles Bean (chair of panel, Professor of Economics, London School of Economics and former Deputy Governor of the Bank of England), and José De Gregorio (Professor of Economics, Universidad de Chile and former Governor, Central Bank of Chile.)

As part of the review, central bank governors and economists, academics, private sector economists, financial journalists and media commentators were asked to participate in a survey about BIS research.

In the light of the external review panel's recommendations, BIS Management put in place an action plan that was approved by the BIS Board. All action points were successfully completed by the end of 2018.
